La Ronda de los Abrazos wanted to host a world hug, a friendly meeting in Gran Canaria!
It’s about dancing, relaxing, breathing and enjoying the ocean of emotions that surrounds us.
It’s a meeting of tango lovers who use the “mirada” and the “cabeceo”
and who passionately care for a respectful round on the dance floor.
The venue is located on Las Canteras beach, one of the treasures of the Canary Islands.
It’s close to the historic centre with its shops, museums, theatre,
Columbus House, cathedral, bars and restaurants.
What’s more, we have a smooth dance floor, comfortable lighting, air conditioning and a great sound system.

Essential Seminar with Alejandro Larenas and Marisol Morales
“The evolution of the Tango dance”
How tango dance evolved? Where are we going with tango now?
A journey through the history and evolution of this popular dance interpret through our bodies.
In this seminar we will analyze from the past to the present the fundamental structures and movements of this dance, such as sacadas, voleos, ganchos, in an open or closed embrace.
The main objective will be to recreate that line of evolution to focus on the development of today’s tango.
To be able to continue with that tradition of research and experimentation.
In addition to the movements, we will go deep into tango communication technique
and interpretative musical expression.
This lesson contains photography and video material to analyze the course of movements while trying and dancing. All movements will be approached in historically way.
What are the styles in tango? How to develop personal style? What is tradition? What is innovation?
These are some of the questions to be faced in this seminar.
The workshop will be taught in Spanish and English.
Duration: 9 hours
